At Lawfarm, our aim is to build a place where people can come and find virtually anything to do with law.
Lawfarm was founded on 11 June, 2013 by Sreerupa Chowdhury and Monalisa Saha, with one objective - to help people get better access to legal information and services. In February 2016, Lawfarm merged with Lawr, a product of Sugar Ventures Singapore, co-founded by John Fearon and Jieyang Huang. This collaboration shall help Lawfarm improve its quality and reach of legal services in India.
Lawfarm now gives you free legal advice, connects you to the right lawyer for your case, provides you a directory of lawyers to choose from, allows you to review your existing lawyer, gives you regular legal updates and access to simplified legal information for you to become more knowledgeable! Our vision is to create the most trusted, reliable and efficient space for all things legal in India.
Lawfarm is also running a pro-bono project with ipaidabribe.com, one of India's leading non-profits.

Our Core Team
John is a lifelong serial entrepreneur, starting with selling sweets as a child through to creating various businesses in college. His earlier professional years were spent in internet marketing and e-commerce, providing consulting and services for MNCs, including Hilton Hotels (UK), HSBC Offshore (Jersey) and Asiarooms.com (Thailand).
Eventually, John found his niche in building a growing number of exciting startups. John is interested in supporting passionate entrepreneurs and working with them to improve the world. He aims to find interesting ways to disrupt established fields and to do it bigger, faster and better.
Jieyang has had his fair share of corporate experience – starting out in the corporate finance field where he worked with public companies on their various corporate actions and advised on initial public offerings, he quickly ventured into the legal space and practised commercial litigation for about 5 years in one of the top law firms in Singapore.
His entrepreneurial passions are naturally more legally-oriented, with interests in social justice and improving legal competencies across the world.
Sreerupa, having graduated from one of India’s top law schools, NUJS, Kolkata, first gained corporate experience in the legal team of the Mahindra group, a leading multinational conglomerate headquartered in India, before going on to start Lawfarm. She has also provided legal advisory and consultancy services to many growing startups in India.
A recipient of awards for entrepreneurship both in India and at the global level, Sreerupa has gained recognition for her leadership initiatives. She aims towards building a transparent and efficient legal system in India.
