India like many other countries does not have a specific law banning cannibalism as such. Most of the popularly reported cases of cannibalism are coupled with charges of murder leading to life imprisonment. The only other provision which maybe employed is Section 297 of the Indian Penal Code which penalizes tresspass of a place of burial but does not specifically refer to cannabalism. So if a person gets human flesh outside a place of burial, this provision may not apply at all.
