inform second wife about first marriage

Is it important to inform 2nd wife about the first marriage if the first wife has been missing for more than 7 years?

Yes, section 495 of IPC requires the second spouse to be informed about the missing of first spouse and the state of affairs as they exist. This is important to ensure that the second spouse is not being cheated.

Section 495 in The Indian Penal Code

495. Same offence with concealment of former marriage from person with whom subsequent marriage is contracted.—Whoever commits the offence defined in the last preceding section having concealed from the person with whom the subsequent marriage is contracted, the fact of the former marriage, shall be punished with imprison­ment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

the answer to your query is yes you should inform her before getting married and it is suggested to get a divorce / permission through court that on the ground under SEC13 Hindu marriage act your wife is missing for more than 7 years and despite all the efforts there is no clue of her. Now, you want a divorce in ordeer to marry 2nd time.
