Process to charge maintenance fee of buidling
Hi , I got my building registration in last sep,2016, but there was work(left an wall) pending which builder completed on April, so basically I got apt in april 2017. but now I building owner association asking maintenance charge from may 2016 even before registration, they said if I wont pay they will disconnect water and electricity as per some by law which I received now.so let me know do I have to pay the maintenance from april 2017 which I truly got apt or from sep 2016 when I got registration or from may 2016.

Builders take maintenance charges from the date of possession of flat by the owners. If the owners do not occupy the flat even after possession is granted or registration has been done then too maintenance charges have to be paid by the owners. Since registration was done in September 2016 – maintenance charges should ideally start from this month only if in the month of May 2016 possession was not granted.
