The first step for opening a kirana shop is to procure a premises where the goods are to be sold. Subsequently, this shop has to be registered with the respective state under the Shops and Establishments Act. For such registration, generally an application for registration is to be sent to the Inspector having jurisdiction within the specified time along with the requisite fees. There are various other licenses which may be required under the Food Safety and Standards Act, with regard to the regulations as provided for licenses and registrations.
