Rent deducted one month's rent for painting

My landlord has deducted one month's rent citing painting as the issue when there was no painting issue at all. I stayed there only for 10 months. He lives in the US and his father has signed the contract. Can I file a case on his father who lives in Bangalore? His father has the power of attorney for their property. Please advise.

Sir, there has been cheating on the part of the landlord and his GPA, thus it gives you cause of action to sue. In the circumstance that you are facing you can institute cheating case under Section 420 of IPC against not only your land lord but also his GPA. This right is vested in you by the provisions of the Power of Attorney Act 1882.

It all depends on the terms of contract...does it specifically states  that the paiting is the responsibilty of the tenant ..yhen the tenat has to bear the costs but if it is the responsiblty of the Landlord then the landlord has to bear the costs...

check the terms of the contract please !
